A Temporary Displacement Project

Temporary Displacement issues are often caused by scheduled renovations, warranty repairs, or unexpected situations such as water leakage. However, as was the case with a recent client, organising temporary accommodation for tenants can also be necessary if you wish to offer furnished apartment rentals or are looking to update rental furniture to units that are already occupied.

Our team was tasked with furnishing 19 apartments in an apartment complex, as well as facilitating temporary relocation for the affected occupants. The tenants were required to move out of their units for a couple of weeks while we completed the furnishing process, after which they would return to their newly furnished homes.

Project Breakdown

Tenant Relocation: The first step in the project was to facilitate the temporary relocation of the tenants. Since the apartments were being furnished and the tenants needed to move out temporarily, a detailed plan was created to ensure that each family was assigned to a suitable temporary accommodation. The tenants moved out in stages, allowing the team to focus on one area of the building at a time. The families were relocated to other available units within the building or in their nearby accommodations.

Furnishing Plan: Once the tenants had moved out, the next step was to begin the furnishing process. A detailed furnishing plan was created that included:

  • The specific furniture pieces needed for each apartment, such as beds, sofas, tables, chairs, and appliances.
  • Additional decorative items like curtains, lighting, and other accessories make the apartments feel like home.
  • Kitchenware and appliances to ensure each apartment was fully functional for the tenants when they returned.

Furnishing Timeline: The furnishing process took place over several weeks. The apartments were furnished floor by floor allowing for an organised and manageable process.

Additional Services: Besides furnishing the apartments, we also provided cleaning services ensuring that each unit was spotless before the tenants returned.

We received positive feedback from the residents both in terms of the quality of the furniture, the look, and the smooth transition.
